Course in Seizure Management and Midazolam

This non-accredited seizure course provides the skills and knowledge to an individual who works with people who have seizures. This support role does not typically require specialist skills, provided the support worker has an understanding about the procedures to follow. Where a support worker administers medication such a Midazolam, they also need training in medication-specific emergency management procedures.

High-intensity support is relevant for people who also require emergency post-seizure medication. Considered and appropriate administration of this medication is critical and is considered a high-intensity support activity that requires intensive training. The support worker also needs basic first aid skills and knowledge required to provide CPR and place a person in a recovery position.

Entry Requirements

Support workers need basic first aid skills and knowledge required to provide CPR and place a person in a recovery position.  They will also need training in medication specific emergency management procedures.

Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Course Duration

• Face-to-Face - Full face to face course (minimum of 2 hours); or
• Blended - Online pre-learning, with a face-to-face delivery (minimum of 15 minutes).

Booking into this course commences enrolment with Allens Training Pty Ltd - RTO 90909 for completion of the online component of the course. The practical and face-to-face component of the course is delivered by Statpacks Plus under the auspices of Allens Training Pty Ltd - RTO 90909.

Re-Certification Requirements

This certificate does not require renewal, however, it is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken every 12 months.
