Course Overview

This nationally recognised ALS1 course is designed for healthcare professionals who may be required to respond to medical emergencies and cardiac arrest situations. Delivered by Statpacks Plus instructors accredited through Resuscitation Australia, the course provides essential training in early recognition, structured assessment, and team-based resuscitation – aligned with ANZCOR Guidelines and NSQHS Standards.

It combines flexible, self-paced online learning with a highly interactive face-to-face session featuring 12 simulated clinical scenarios tailored to your professional role, scope, and environment – from general practice to remote or resource-limited settings.


Key Learning Outcomes

By completing this course, you will gain the knowledge and practical skills to:

  • Recognise and assess critically ill patients using the ABCDE approach

  • Prevent clinical deterioration through structured intervention

  • Perform effective CPR and airway management

  • Operate defibrillators (manual and AED) with confidence

  • Apply ALS/BLS algorithms during cardiac arrest

  • Respond as part of a resuscitation team with clear communication and leadership

  • Manage special situations such as anaphylaxis and asthma


Assessment

  • eLearning: Includes embedded assessments and knowledge checks (100% accuracy required to progress)

  • Face-to-Face: Continuous skills assessment during simulation

    • Participants are graded on a 1–10 Likert scale

    • A minimum average of 6 is required to demonstrate competency

    • Emphasis is placed on prioritisation, teamwork, and effective clinical decision-making


Certification

Upon successful completion of both components, participants receive a digital ALS1 credential (valid for 4 years). Continued access to the eLearning modules supports ongoing self-review and refresher training.
