Plastering and Slabbing Workshop

Our plastering and slabbing workshop is a hands on practical experience focussing on orthopaedic injuries and their management. 

During the workshops participants will be taken through the assessment of limb injuries and the application of plaster of paris (POP) slabs. 

We will focus on the most common scenarios that are likely to be experienced in rural and remote practice. 

The workshop is delivered by experienced currently practicing healthcare professionals and current nurse practioner candidates in small groups to enable you to get a immersive experience with the opportunity for you to ask questions and discuss scenarios that could be experienced in your field of practice. 

We will cover 4 common upper limb plastering techniques ( Radius, Ulna Gutter, Humerus/Elbow and Scaphoid/Thumb Spika) and 1 lower limb plastering technique (Ankle/Tib/Fib)

You will also have the opportunity to undertake slabbing on paediatric models. 

The workshop is ideal for 3rd/4th year medical students, PGY 1- 4 doctors, Registered nurse working or upskilling to work in rural and remote.
